Skiing updates

I haven't been able to sit at the computer in a while to blog over the past few days due to schedule and the fact that it's rarely free with so many people in my house! So, I blog at work, which I probably shouldn't but I do make sure my work is done first! Of course if Nick or Sandy ever has a problem with me doing that, I will discontinue it. Anyway, Kaleb has been to two ski meets that I have not blogged about. So, here are the links to the news articles!

HARBOR SPRINGS — Boyne City’s Kaleb McNamara and Charlevoix-East Jordan’s Katherine Rowley each were double winners Thursday in a Lake Michigan Conference ski meet at Nub’s Nob.

The Boyne City boys finished first with 47 points to win Thursday’s six-team race, while Harbor Springs was second, 75, followed by Traverse City St. Francis, 98; Elk Rapids, 110; Grayling, 158; and Charlevoix-East Jordan, 166.

Charlevoix-East Jordan won the girls’ portion of the meet with 61 points, while Harbor Springs was second, 81; followed by T.C. St. Francis, 85.5; Boyne, 114; Grayling, 139.5; and Elk Rapids, 193.

McNamara won the boys’ giant slalom in 52.95 seconds, and the slalom in 57.90 seconds. Rowley claimed the girls’ GS in 54.40, and the slalom in one minute, 1.65 seconds.

McNamara, Rowley sweep ski races

Boyne City's Kaleb McNamara and Charlevoix/East Jordan's Katherine Rowley swept the slalom and giant slalom races to lead their teams to wins in Thursday's Lake Michigan Conference ski meet at Nub's Nob.

The Boyne City boys finished with 47 points, followed by Harbor Springs with 75. Traverse City St. Francis was third (98), Elk Rapids fourth (110), Grayling (158) fifth and Charlevoix/East Jordan sixth (166).

Following McNamara in the slalom were Harbor's Drake Doherty, Boyne teammate Mike Cortwright, the Rams' Sam Davis and St. Francis' Keaden Hornyak.

In GS it was McNamara, Harbor's Ben Tolzdorf, Boyne's Nick Simeri, Hornyak and Doherty.

On the girls' side, Rowley was followed in the slalom by Boyne's Cristina Roland, the Gladiators' Lilian Wiley, Harbor Springs' Andi Shepherd and Grayling's Cassie Pizzi.

The top five in GS were Rowley, Wiley, Shepherd and Harbor's Alli Mooradian and Cooper Dendel.

Unfortunately, Jeff and I weren't able to attend this one, but we're so proud of him!!!!!!

Kaleb's ski invitational in Harbor Springs

Kaleb did great at the ski invitational held at Boyne Highlands Monday. Jeff was able to go for most of it, but was not able to get any good pics due to the weather (see foggy pic to the left?)! But, he placed 4th in the invitational!

Boyne City was led by Kaleb McNamara, who placed fourth, while Petoskey’s Bradley Ling was eighth and Kiefer Mack placed 10th.

The top 10 finishers all received medals.

We're so proud of him!!!! Told ya it was going to be an exciting year! He raced again last night and I will put all the exciting details in my next post, when I have all the exciting details!!!!

Kaleb's ski meet

Kaleb's first ski meet was Thursday at Boyne Mountain. Jeff and I went and watched. Unfortunately we did not get any pics, but Kaleb got 2nd in GS and 3rd in Slalom, out of 6 teams, about 50 or so kids.

The Boyne City boys had five skiers place in the top 10 in GS led by Kaleb McNamara, who was second. Also for the Ramblers in GS, in which they finished with 14 team points, Mike Cortwright was third, Nick Simeri fourth, Sterling Adgate, fifth; and Joe Shear, sixth.

In slalom for the Ramblers, where they finished with 17.5 points, Simeri was second, McNamara third, Adgate fifth and Shear seventh.
